I was messing around today and thought of this. What do you think?

I like the setup and all, but I think the overall pic is too dark |

I agree. The setup is wonderful, but on my screen it also looks a bit too dark.

Taken with a D70? What happened?
Underexposed, too little contrast.
Also, the "backdrop" looks out of place, the shadow of your ears are distracting, not to mention your arm's shadow.
Were you going for something in this?
Edit: Wanted to ask you if your warranty is ok?

Looks like the autoexposure placed the prominent white (or near white) of the background and sweatshirt at middle grey. This caused the rest of the image to be underexposed. Place the exposure compensation at +1 to +2 stops to tell the camera where the scene should be evaluated at and try again.
