Tokina AT-X 28-70mm PRO SV f2.8

Looking to get one in a few weeks. Would appreciate any comments on quality etc. Not being able to afford mega money this looks like a pretty decent lens for the money.

thanks
Mike

Take a look at the Sigma and the Tamron versions too

I think it is a little bit more expensive and it isn't the lens you asked about. But since it covers the same range and aperture I'll post it anyway:

I don't know how cheap you can get the Tokina for, but the Tamron is an excellent lens and you can get it for about $340 online. I had a cheaper lens in mind when I posted here a couple months ago and everyone talked me into the Tamron and it was the best advice I could have gotten.

Check out this site: //www.photozone.de/2Equipment/easytxt.htm#Zstf

The Tokina 28-70 PRO SV 2.8L gets an average score. While the Tamron 28-75 2.8 gets a very good score, almost as good as a Canon 24-70 2.8L

The Tamron 28-75 is approx $465 the Tokina 28-70 is approx $316 here in the U.K. For a U.K. Price of £169 it represents a really good deal considering they were £319 not so long ago.

I have found a website that had about 25 reviews on the Tokina and apart from 3 or 4 reviews everyone else were very pleased with the results.

My budget will not stretch to the Tamron - :-(
