No battery was fine and it continued to work after it did this. Although it took a few more shots later.
When I took the photo everything was normal in the view finder, it wasnt till I went back to review the shots that this happened.

Me thinks that too. But came here hoping that people would say something different. :p
But the way it happened points to that answer.

There was four all up.
I was actually in drive mode but I had shots hundreds this weekend in that mode and all was fine. I know that drive does stretch the sensor a little more than normal, but I don't think this is normal either. It looks like its starting to die.
It worked after that shot I posted, but then it had the same thing happen a few shots later. It doesnt look good.

Looks like some connections to the sensor are loose and intermittently fully connect to give good shots then fail again to give the partial photos. Time for a new Camera. I got a D-Rebel gathering dust since I got my Mark II, interested? ;) LOL

Are you using the same storage card?
Maybe your storage card has a problem?

Too broke at the moment, but otherwise would love it lol
I actually bought this camera 15 months ago from Kiwiness so as you probably would expect from anything he once owned it would have gotten a lot of use.
Its obviously not looking good, but at least its generally useable for now. It gives me time to save up for something anyway, plus things are far cheaper now and are going down.
