Does anyone have one of these lenses? It seems to be a great portrait lens in a studio type setting or anywhere where there is a lot of light but I noticed tonight that it was hard to get a good manual focus in low light situations. Has anyone had this problem? |

Manual focus had to get in low light? Do you mean automatic?

I just got this lens. I shot a wedding with it the other night and it had a problem focusing on distance shots. I am exchanging the lens as I think I got a defective one.
Low light focusing was not a problem, I took shots in very low light situations which came out fine.

The first (and only at this point)lens I got for my 10D. It has very sharp focus at 3.2 and higher (or is it lower -- that always confuses me). At 2.8 it has very good focus. I'm in love with it. I've borrowed 2 other Tamron lens to try and have been disappointed -- but this one I love. |

I'v had the 28-75 for the last month or two, and had no problems with it - it's become my defacto general purpose lens, and stays on the camera unless I need wider or longer. I've had one or two problems with focus seeking in low light, mostly when pointing at something shiny, but this was at near-macro distance (ie I was pushing the min focal distance a bit too much). Overall, the lens rocks!

I guess I mean that when trying to manual focus in low light and probably with good light even, that there is a very narrow range of "in focus" on the lens. In the viewfinder when the focus square should blink red, it really doesn't in low light when you are manual focusing. |

I just got this lens a few weeks ago, and I am extrememly pleased with it. The nudes I posted the other day were all taken with this lens in very low light and I had no problems with focus. The X-mas portrait of my kids in my profile was also taken in rather low light.

Well maybe I just have to get use to it now. Since I've been using my Canon 50, 85, and 100, I think I've been spoiled. These lenses really seem to be easy to get focus in all lighting conditions. |

I own this lens also and love it. Very sharp. It is the only non Nikon lens that I have. I work in a camera shop and we do sell a lot of these. |

This lens hasn't come off my camera since Christmas. Next to my 70-200 f/4L, it's my favorite. I had some difficulty with focus yesterday, but that was a low contrast situation at near-macro distance. Manual focus was fine, though it took a little practice to get the confirmation beep. |
