oops - that's good to know... although 1/50 seemed to be working okay - maybe i'm steadier than i thought? who knows. thanks for the info though. and since everyone is plugging their 50mm pics, i'll throw one in as well.. not exactly the best picture to show amazing detail, but it was indeed shot at f/1.8 (my potd yesterday)
and here's my shot for today, which may have slightly more detail.. i would probably attribute the lack of focus on certain objects to the small DOF (this one at f/2.5), but it could be my fault as well.

Well, my studio is not flooded, but with fans running and the dampness i don't feel like hanging there, so here in my den i did this bit of non-art. Ignore the color cast...flash and 2 other non-matched lights (yuk). Self timer. Have to read the book - 10 seconds is a long time.Had the Rebel set at ISO800 at first...
The tamron seems good and sharp at F9 (@48mm focal length) The Canon 50mm shots had to be retaken - focus issues. Hmmm, maybe there is a reason that lens is only $70!
The Fuji is no where near as sharp, but the color is better. Interesting that the Fuji and Canon, both at ISO 200 and F5.6 have such different shutter speeds.
