Just got the Tamron 90mm Macro lens. So far I'm really impressed with it. I chose it over the Canon for a few reasons.
1. The price ( Canon 100mm was $489, Tamron was $439)
2. Tamron gives a 6 year warranty
3. Tamron lens came with the lens hood and a leather carry case
I would have had to purchase the lens hood with the Canon and they only offer a 1 year warranty.
Here is the first MACRO picture I took with it. Nothing really special, just testing it out on a baseball.

It's a great lens, very noisy and slow AF, but the images that come out of it are very sharp and well worth the AF inconvenience. I shoot 90% of my images with it on my camera...

The AF is slower compared to a Canon lens, but like you said the images are really sharp. |
