Welcome to 2005! Hope it's happy thus far.

I have shared some layout/questions before and I wanted to give an update as to where we are:

1) We have updated prices: //www.pictureinfinity.com/pricing.html
There are new prices, album pictures, and the colored boxes to set each package off. Hope that much looks better. :)
2) We have updated our gallery page //www.pictureinfinity.com/folio.html to use the JAlbum with simpleviewer skin instead of one large collage of our best pictures. Hope that looks better too!
3) Front page is changed - no ads means more flexibility - //www.pictureinfinity.com
4) We changed it so that the "sample" album layout is the latest one we did (the one I posted on dpc a few days ago).

We still need to find a font for the text that I like better than the default. I like the white background still.

I think that's about it. If you visit the page(s), please give me your feedback, good bad or otherwise. Yes, I've done a ton of work and so I want it to be "done" and "good" but if it's not, let me know. I'd rather improve it!

something that you may like to look into. the page //www.pictureinfinity.com/folio.html doesn't quiet work with Firefox ( and i suspect similar problems with any of the mozilla browsers ). I believe you are using simpleviewer and I recall having problems myself making it to work with both IE and Firefox at the same time.
You may like to look into the code to make it work for both browsers unless you expect most ppl to use IE.

Hi Matt. I didn't see the previous look so I can't compare. I think this looks good though. It's clean, easy to read, and professional looking.

A couple things:

On the folio page it would be nice if the images didn't run off the bottom of the page. I know this varies by resolution but I'm not sure how many people still use 800x600...? I use 1280x1024 and the images are just off the bottom of the page. Maybe eliminating the white space between the blue directions and the images would help move them up enough? That much white space there isn't really needed anyway.

As for the font, I would choose a san serif or easy to read script. Serif seems to have a 'hard' feel to me. Being that you do weddings, a san serif font would be more curvy and soft. If you can find a nice script to use that won't be hard on the eyes, it will either have to be a default-type font that all computers would already have or you would need to change the coding so your font is downloaded to them so they see it the same way you intended.

Everything looks nice. Good work.

More about the site.
1. I think the image on the top which says "Picture infinity" should be a link bringing the viewer back to your home page.
2. The links in general are too dull. You may put in some style such that they become active ( some change in text color/highlight/underline ) when the viewer hovers the mouse over the link.

Yes, would also agree. They do look like plain text.

Matt, FYI - there are broken links to the images for Sarah and Tommy on the Contact Us page.

I'll check this, but this is our browser stats:
1. Internet Explorer 97.1 %
2. Firefox 2.8 %
3. Netscape Navigator 0.1 %

On the main page, you may want to set the Picture Infinity image to the back, so it doesn't overlap the photos. That of make it a transparent GIF (white being transparent) and that may resolve the issue too.

The splash screen. I've never understood its purpose. I clicked to go to your site. Why do I have to click again to go to your site? I think that the "intro splash screen" makes just about ever list of bad site design. Personally, it drives me crazy. And for the record, the splash screen doesn't even fit on my page in Firefox if I have more than one tab open - so, it's a spash screen that I have to scroll to even see all of it.

Ok, I can't fix the FireFox plm. I don't know what's not happening.

I may throw the whole thing in a table so I can control the size for the different browser resolutions.

Still not sure what to do about the font. Can someone show me a site with a GOOD font?

Fixed the splash screen. I got enamoured with the idea when the site had ads and it was something I COULDN'T do. Now that I can - doesn't mean I should.

I had the links as mouseovers, but they looked like crap. I don't really want to fix those again. Maybe a size/color change or something tho...

the problem with the site on firefox is the CSS positioning.

i dont know why this happens but i have had this problem before.

if you have php on your server i know you can rediect users with firefox to a different version of your porfolio page (one not using CSS)

Does simpleviewer HAVE to use CSS? or can I just remove it since I'm using my own layout/html anyways?

i just looked at the source breifly but it looks like if you just took out the CSS positioning manually it shouldnt cause any problems

Took it out.

*testing*

No. Can you look?

HA!

I think I got it.

Can someone on FF test it?
Can someone on Netscape or Mac test it?

Thank you! I've only shot 5 weddings, but we have another 3 already booked for 2005, 1 for 2006 and 1 pre-booked for 2007 (no monies paid, but we're holding the date and giving someone first refusal on 12/31/05). Hopefully we'll shoot 25 or 30 in 2006 and the same in 2007.
