It's been a bit of a sad end to the year. Yesturday one of my workmates had to get her 8 mnth pup put to sleep as he had cancer of the bone. Alard (the pup) has always come to work with her, so he was very much a part of our work family.
On Thursday night I went through all the photos on my hard drive and found about 30 images.....some of them not the greatest shots. They spanned from when he was a small pup, right through, with the different people/animals he's been a friend to. Printed them off and we put them into a celebration album for her, gave it to her after he'd been put down.
Sometimes we forget what a wonderful gift we have. The ability to bring comfort, joy with the images we take. I'd been going to go through all the images and delete the not so good shots, but hadn't got round to it..............I'm very glad now I didn't.

This really hits home with me.
I did the same sort of thing for my father when my mother passed away. It still feels like a knife through my heart.
thanks for sharing

It was as much for me as it was for her I think......I sometimes feel so inadequate offering words of comfort, flowers are lovely but they don't last and this gave her a glimpse of the joy she has had with him. Going through the photos brought back some wonderful memories and a lot of laughs cos he was the clumsiest pup I'd ever met. |
