Take a photo of something that seems appropriate as a dedication photo. Title it with the dedication. For example, "To the victims of the Tsunami"

Not sure if it's a good idea. Likely voters will rate the tragedy/significance/importance of the event or a person a shot is dedicated to, and not the shot itself. And one would be able to pass anything as a dedication...

Many people will undoubtedly shoot stuff of a local dedication. Other voters will have absolutely no reference to the incident/tragedy. In my case, how many of you have ever heard of the Halifax explosion of 1917? Most non-Canadians don't, although it was the largest man-made explosion before the first atom bombs.
