I have always used my left eye, but I'm right handed.

This used to be a problem with some film cameras as they used the film advance lever to switch on the meter. Had to pull it back a bit so that it protruded form the camera. No problem if you use your right eye at the finder, but it would poke you in the right eye if you used your left eye to look through the viewfinder.
