There is a lesson to be learnt here, thatcloudthere...
If you want something...I mean really want something...don't wait til xmas to get it!
Get it in the summer when everyone is on holiday and not buying camera kit.

Both B&H and Ritz had them in stock a couple of days ago, and shipping (to us, before Christmas) only took 2 days.
Good Luck! |

What's the diff between 3021 and 3011?
(Don't say 10). ;-) |

I might be wrong, but I believe one of the main differences is that the 3021's vertical column can be mounted horizontally for macro work. Correct? I just received the 3011 for a Christmas present, but I was hoping for the 3021 to be in my bag eventually. Oh well. I'm fortunate either way. |

I believe the 3021 has quick levers for the legs instead of thumbscrews and I know the 3021's column can be quickly removed for low level use...not sure about the 3011. They're both great!

I got the 3011 for Christmas. I would have preferred levers to thumbscrews, but it's still WAY better than my old Slik 9000U. |

I prefer thumbscrews. I think quick release levers rely too much on the integrity of plastic to maintain pressure. I prefer to decide how much pressure is enough, thank you very much.
I agree that either is a phenomenal improvement over "cheapy" tripods that have the collapsing supports that attach to the vertical column. The ability to independently adjust the splay angle on each leg is a *godsend*. |

Question for those who own the 3021 (055) from Manfrotto...I've heard several people say that the quick-locks on the legs are handy, but that they pinch your fingers and they may not be durable (speculations only).
I read about one person who loosened the factory setting for the legs so it didn't pinch his fingers too much...
Can anybody address this, as I haven't yet picked up the tripod...

The quick-lock levers are adjustable, but mine has never pinched me.

While we are on the subject of tripods does anyone have any recommendations?
It's needs to be portable, I really like the Manfrotto 718SHB (35cm packed, 121cm max height) but as I'm 6'7" (a little over 2m) I would like a tall tripod, any thoughts on a good one that can collapse down to something very small?

I live in toronto and B&H take 2 days to get here.
Best prices around.
Henry's in brampton just had a sale on their manfrotto 190CL 200$ with ballhead. I got it for Xmas |

What did you buy and how much was shipping? Any border-crossing fees or duty charges incurred?

Anybody know what I'll have to pay in duty, taxes, other fees if I order the 3021bpro and 322rc2 kit for $284.40 (incl. USPS) and have it sent to Canada (Toronto-area)?
I might cancel my order with Henry's if B&H is quick and there aren't too many hidden costs...

The quick-locks are adjustable as to tightness, as micknewton said. I've pinched my palm in the locks a few times, and it hurts like a mother, but you just have to be careful where you put your soft fleshy parts when you're working the locks. :)
Along with the removable center column, a great combination, but the 3011 is great too. A really solid, quality piece of work. I got a 3-way head originally with it, but later upgraded to a 488RC2 ball head, with is VASTLY superior. The 3-way heads are meant for video cameras, really. The ball head is so fast to position, it's unreal, and it's more versatile as to the angles you can get, if you need a weird angle (almost straight up/down/etc.). |

Okay, the cure for My-local-camera-store-is-waiting-for-backorders-from-Manfrotto-itis has been found!
It requires driving 180km (110 miles) to Toronto after work tonight, but at least the cure was found!
I was lucky enough to find a video camera accessory store that happened to have the 3021bpro in stock!
Woooohooooo!!

so 220 miles round trip - are you crazy?
i hope they weren't guessing, and that you asked them to hold it for you.

Crazy? No, that was before I tracked down a place that had my Christmas present...
;0)
Yeah, I made sure they had the right one and that they put my name on it...I just have to make sure to be there before 7pm...Guess I should let my boss know I'm leaving work a bit early tonight!
