I'm looking for a small case for my D70, and am considering the Lowepro Micro Trekker 100. I'll have the D70, 18-70mm, 50mm, 70-210mm, SB600 Flash and hopefully a 105mm macro, plus a few other small bits.

Any thoughts/advice/recommendations?

Cheers :)

I have a mini trekker (slightly larger) and I love it. Sturdy and holds a lot of junk!

a friend of mine just bought the micro trekker for his d70 kit. i have the mini-trekker...
i think with that much stuff you'd probably better off springin' for the mini instead of the micro. the micro really has room for about the body+lense, 1 lens and 1 flash... i think if you added another lense like the sigma 105, you'd be pretty full and cramming it in there, and not leaving yourself any room for anything else.

right now in my mini i have the camera+18-70, my sigma 70-300, my flash, my 50mm, and my filters and extra batteries.

Most seasoned fotogs have at least 3 bags. Many have a dozen. Different needs at different times.

We have one of the Micro Trekkers - cant recall if it's the 100 or 200 and it's a good little bag. We also have the Mini Trekker Classic and recently bought a Dryzone 100 for some unusually wet/ cold conditions.

We're happy with all our Lowepro bags and recommend them thoroughly.

(By we I'm talking about me and my hub, Pete - username Ganders. We tend to share them and, on most trips, take the Mini and Micro together, leaving one in the hotel with stuff we don't need that day and sharing the other to carry both our stuff during the day)

I also have a Delsey brand bag, a shoulder model. Very well made.

i've got a 550ex on the way, and am just hoping i can sqeeze it into my back pack. i think i can make it work. i'll have to sacrifice the efs 18-55mm... ( suppose i could could just put that in my back pocket though ;}

Micro trekkers are very nice bags. I have the Micro trekker 100 and it is completely full with all the accessories for my Canon PowerShot Pro1. Camera, Flash, Adapter tube, 1.4 Teleconverter, some filters and a pack of smokes fill the micro up. Cleaning kit, spare batteries fit in the pockets on the flap. Attaching a Tripod was somewhat a pain.

I think the Micro 100 will be small for what you want, may want the next size up. As your needs grow you will out grow this one quickly. It is an execellent for a camera that you are limited to the attachments you can put on it.

Looking at your Original post again I do not think you can get all that into this bag. My Speedlight 420EX takes up almost a whole side in the micro 100. Maybe with the 70-210 on the body, Flash and some filters on one side, and the other three lenses on the other side.

UPS is delivering my Mini Trekker Classic AW this morning, I let you know that fairs for the gadgets I have aquired for my 20D already.

Or get a 3rd bag. Then you'll be surely seasoned.....

if i count the sigma macro lense bag - which i could use for the 550ex i think, i might be able to call myself seasoned.

actually - my over all plan is to try to travel as light as possible, and basically if it doesn't fit in one bag - it stays home. unless i am shotting film and digital - then i have a bag for each. my lense selection in the long run will follow this plan. maximum of three or four lenses in bag. 50mm, 105mm, 75-300mm, 17-40mm L eventually ( efs 18-55mm for now ). that's all you need.

I have the Nova 3 AW and I managed to cram in all of my gear:
- D70 with kit lens
- sigma 105mm macro
- 80-400mm VR
- SB-800 flash
- battery charger
it's now officially full. :-)

I'm also looking at somthing to travel with (backpack).
I'm eyeing the Rolling Mini Trekker since I plan on shooting for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and National Geographic very soon and I'll be doing losta travelling. ;-) **ok I'm waking up now**

I'm think that I'll go with the Micro Trekker at this stage, the one thing that is holding me back is my desire to carry a tripod along as well. If I can't fit everything in the bag then I can just get a pouch for the side (I already have a D-Res 30 AW for my FZ2).

There are bigger a cheaper options but I do like Lowepro.

I got a Lowepro CompuTrekker for Christmas, and it's lovely. Very well put together, lots of pockets and all sorts of clamps and things I don't even know what are there for. I think it's similar to a MiniTrekker, only with an extra pocet in the back for a laptop.

With all my gear:
20D (with w/70-200mm + hood fitted)
50mm f/1.4
105mm EX Macro
17-40mm f/4L
70-200 f/4L
580EX flash plus omnibounce and some Lumiquest stuff
15" Powerbook

...there's even some space left for books etc.

you can carry a tripod on the micro trekker 200... the straps hold it hanging below the bag. at least that's how my buddy carries his tripod on his micro trekker.

good luck, the lowepro bags are fantastic. great construction!
