As I alluded to in another thread I was contacted by a subject who was in town for the holidays and wanted to update her portfolio. As time was at a premium (had to wait for the Mommy & baby's nap) we only shot for about an hour. Here are a few from that session. I've also included one photo from my study that I'm working on. I don't expect to hit a homerun with something like this but at least its an attempt to stretch out to more artistic work than straight portraits.
And the attempt at some artistic interpretation is tentatively title Imported Elegance.
Thanks for looking and commenting,
Kev
EDIT: Decided to add a link to the bordered photo and see what others think of that edit.
EDIT: Fixed first image link.

The third one down is my favorit.
They are all so clear and sharp, very nice photo's
For some reason I don't care for the look on her face in the first one.
Nice job,

Thanks John. The first shot was challenging with the colors and the lighting as they were. She was looking towards the sun which didn't help any.
I've added another photo to this set. I wanted to see how the 2nd shot would look with a border around it.

Wonderful job as always Kevin... I aspire to you, ut here is just what comes into mind as an average photographer when I see some of these.
On the first one, the exposure seems to bleed her clothing into the white sky. I feel that this could have been avoided by either you moving to a higher view point or by having her get smaller somehow (??) so that her shoulders were below the treeline. All in all, there just needed to be some separating of her body from the background.
The sky is my second point, and this is a general one. From many people I've talked to, they have picked this exact kind of day as you did to shoot portraits. Although I agree with the lower contrast which flatters features, I kind of think that these portraits could have used more light (particularly the first three).
Still some good work here and I think it is grat that you are trying to spread your horizons and do some artistic ventures at the same time.
Keep up the good work Kevin!

Yeah, I need to play with this in monotones but I haven't taken the time for it yet.

Yeah, I took the lights and reflector but had no assistant so it would have taken longer to setup than we really had. I agree with your assessment, though, a little more light to fill in her features and brighten up the foreground subject would have made for better shots. With the abbreviated schedule we just had to get what we could. I think we both enjoyed the session and hopefully we can work together again if she gets back in-town to see relatives.
Thanks for the comments,
