Just as a matter of interest, all those that are doing/considering a picture-a-day project, do you look to publish a photo each day or actually take (and publish) a photo each day?

Personally I'm taking a new pic each day (started 3rd Nov).

I'd recommend it to anyone considering the idea - it's very rewarding :)

How would I set something up to post a project like that? I do have a Roadrunner account, but I've never set up a site...just used it for photo storage for linking to. I really dont' want to pay for a site, but I'd love to do this sort of project.

Hi
I've been thinking about doing a p-a-d project for 2005 (jan 1.-jan 1.). But I know that, beause of work, I'll be offline for up to 2 weeks at a time, esp during the summer. So I'll shoot something everyday, and post it the same day if possible, otherwise ASAP.
I don't know if I have the stamina for it tho.
Only one way to find out.

Anybody else thinking of the same? Should we form a support/peer-pressure group.
Cheers
Petur

ps mine will be at my Smugmug site

I'm using a PhotoBucket account for the images and presenting them in a simple blog (using Blogger)

My p-a-d :)

Mine can be viewed here. I use folderblog since the el cheapo hosting service I selected doesn't offer a MySQL database ($1/month). Maybe when I actually need the database, I'll upgrade (for $5).

I'll be using pbase to post mine up. Then perhaps make a collage at the end of the year, if i make it that long.

I will be taking a photo every day and I'm using my photo storage and PhotoBucket.com to diplay the current month and have the photos stored on an external hard drive on my computer. I might end up making a 2006 calender using the best picture from each month, but I wont be publishing each one.

This is a great idea, actually something like this might get me moving to do something. Good thread.

Hmmm..... I like this photo-a-day idea, but I know there would be many days where I just don't feel like it, or there is no time etc etc etc.

On those days I would then feel obliged to MAKE the time, which would do two things:
a) the photo would at times be quite awful - some snapshot just to get it "over and done with"
b) turn into a chore that I would resent.

I would hate to feel that way about my camera or photography, so I guess I'll better be honest with myself and not start this at all.

Good luck to all of you who can stick this out, do a good job of it, and LOVE every day of it.

I feel like that once in a while. After about a month of shooting daily, it's become part of my daily routine. I think you just need to develop it into becoming a habit. Now that I do go out and look for things to shoot everyday, I'll often feel uninspired or that I've shot the same location too many times. It pushes you to try harder, invent new things, go to different places you wouldn't normally have gone to. I've been doing it consecutively for 2 months now and I don't regret a day of it.

i think fotothing.com (free) might work well for your guys' needs. they do restrict the image size to 550 pixels on the longest dimension though - doesn't matter to me, but might for some of you. i think you can post 5 pictures per day or something, not sure. click the link in my sig if you're curious what it looks like.. i sort of like the design.. if you mouseover the pics in the top row, it shows the date each one was posted (in GMT, however)
