This is a seven shot pano that I took today. It has been overcast, cold, and snowy for the last 36 hours or so. The sun finally started to peek through the clouds just before sunset. The skies to the south and east were finally showing some blue. Even at 'original' size, it doesn't come close to showing the original detail. The Pano TIF file is about 7000 pixels without manipulation. This will easily print at about 40 inches wide at high resolution!
Canon EOS 20D, 50mm f1.4 lens, 1/200 sec, f20, ISO 400

great choice for a panoramic. one thing i'm just slightly curious about is that (to me) it looks like the right side of the frame isn't level with the horizon - as if its slanted somehow even though the left side of the picture isn't - just curious.

everytime i see a panorama i think "i need to do this sometime".. let's see how long it takes for me to get around to it though =X

Right you are... to the right of this scene are the foothills, including Cheyenne Mountain where NORAD is located. It does slant up to the right. I'll look for a similar shot on a clear day so you can see...

If you look closely at the trees you'll see basically the whole image is tilted over; the trees would be your true verticals. It's important in panoramic shots to level the pan head on the tripod precisely. Overall, though this is a promising location, the muddy lighting on this won't allow it to rise beyond the ordinary. Try a reshoot in more dramatic lighting conditions.
