I ordered to BH...

Canon EOS 300D kit
70-200mm f/4
50mm f/1.4
backpack, filters, etc... the whole kit

But BH didn't wanted to deliver because my card's address isn't the same that the address I wanted the goods delivered to. After two weeks arguing I gave up!

So no Christmas gift for me this time! A big thank-you go to BH Photo :grrr, I saved a lot of money :(

A happy coincidence that my new Minolta 7D has come just in time for Christmas!

My Christmas gift to myself came in October. I had been shopping for a D-Rebel and lenses and ended up going WAY overboard, buying:

20D w/kit lens
24-70/f2.8
300/f4
and about $400 worth of "incidentals" (1 gig CF, Tamrac bag, filters, etc).

Now I'm exhibit "A" for the fact that the camera doesn't make the photographer! First challenge entry came in at the 4th percentile (ouch), and I've been up-and-down since, although pleased with my BROKEN results, reaching a personal high (88th percentile). Mrs. Truelove agrees with me that I've covered my Christmas, birthday and anniversary for the upcoming year at least.

With all that said, may I add that Christmas and the holiday season is really all about family, faith, peace and goodwill. Here's wishing these to each and every DPC'er and to those you love.

My dearest wife bought me a Canon 50mm f1.8 and a Sigma EF 500 ST DG Flash unit, so I am more than happy. Bless her

Very nice lens Jacko, I think you'll enjoy it. I love mine :)

I have quite a bit comming to me for X-Mas.

20D Body + Grip
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8
Canon 1.4x TC
Bogen 322RC2 Ballhead
2GB CF Card (all the cards I have now are really slow!)
Lensbaby!
Couple of Onmibounces for the 550
DryZone 200
Domke F-3X Shoulder Bag
Couple UV filters and step down rings

LoL, I really only planned on keeping the 10D and getting a 70-200 f/2.8 but I got a little Christmas bonus. :)

I can't make decision. Not sure whether to get 1.4X teleconverter to go on the EF 70-200mm f/4 L, or if I might be better served by getting another lens. I only have the 300D kit lens and the aforementioned so far.

well so far i got myself a flash, and my parents got me a 17-35 Tamron di. I would also count my upcoming trip to china, where i'll be all of january, and i'll be turning 21 there as well, so maybe it's really a birthday present. If I can sell off a few bikes and my bass amp and things like that i'm looking at the 85mm 1.8 or the 100mm 2.0 :-)

I bought a Granite Gear Nimbus Ozone Backpack, it will help me get to places like this that require a 20 plus mile hike to get there.
Backpacking my second addiction :)

Happy Holidays to all!

The price was right if it's in the condition it looks. It's an uncommon lens, even more so in M42 mount (most were made in Exakta mount) and it is very well thought of, even for Zeiss glass. Oh, and did I mention fast?

That's purdy! :-)

I have an M42 adapter also, with a few SMC Takumars. It is just so dang hard to manual focus a Rebel, which has no focusing aids in the viewfinder. I was thinking of getting a Canon Angle Finder C, which has a 2.5x view. Any manual focusing tips?

So did i, but i'm probably going to sell it, don't really need that much zoom, and it's a pain to keep in the bag. I like the lens, though.
