I just purchased the Tamron 200-500mm DI Telephoto lens today. Has anyone worked with this lens yet? It seems pretty clear and quick but I'm interested in any input you might have.

Thanks.

After testing this lens a bit, I have to say it is very clear at 500mm on a tripod. This picture is of a nice looking girl at 500mm at the beach... I saturated this picture a bit too much but the clarity is still there...

Ooops... sorry about the large picture.

This a clear exception of the "no large images in the forums" rule.

It would be even clearer had you gone to a clothing optional beach...

LOL... Well I wanted to test this lens out on the beach with a tripod and this girl and her friend were the only people out there at the time... They were so far from where I was that they didn't even notice me, the tripod, and the big a$$ lens pointing at them... I took about 20 pictures of them... They came out very nice!

Eric - it would be handy if, when you had time, you posted a few crops from the original out of camera shot for us to look at. Maybe at different focal lengths and ISO's? Kind of what I did here for people to see how the lens works. (except in my case people have to take into account the quality of the photographer!)

Tamron 28-300mm Test Shots

Thanks

I'll see if I can take some more pics this weekend at differen't focal lengths and ISO's and post them somewhere for you guys. After that encounter with the beach bunnies, I'd have to say I'm pretty happey with my lens :)

I'd be happy too. Hell, I'm happy you posted them! LOL
It is just that if I ever spend the big bucks on a really long lens I want to see how it performs in differnet light. I like to do nature and bird shots so I will eventually be in the market for a longer and better lens than the Tamron 28-300 I'm using now. Thanks in advance.

I'll try differen't shots in different lighting... Let's just say for right now, the lens performs very well compared to the price of others that are in the $5,000+++ range :)

Actually I do have one night shot of the moon taken with this 200-500mm lens...

Wow! Pretty good job. Seems that the lens is living up to the review that was posted here. And the price seems reasonable. No ........ I can't, I just bought the D70 .......
