If that's the famous "Lone Cypress" don't print it for sale ... lovely sunset shots! |

Yeah ... check this list of forbidden subjects!
BTW: Cypress is a tree, Cyprus is an island. : )

Thanks for the interesting link to the "copyrighted" items.
The first two photos of the sunset are good, I was going to say you should print the photo of the tree, but I did not realize it was "The Lone Cypress" or even what that meant until I read this thread.
Anyhow, nice shots.

I am pleased to see that you find that photo print worthy. |

The Lone Cypress is on 17-mile Drive, which is a private road. You have to pay to drive it. Their terms of admission (on the ticket) now include prohibition of commercial use of any images made in the vicinity, I believe. I don't think the exclusion applies to "art" prints; they are concerend with commercial usage, cuz a good chunk of the money they use to maintain their infastructure comes from leasing the location for advertising shoots.
I lived in Carmel for 4 years so I know the area well.
robt.
addendum: The two sunset pictures are pretty blah compositionally. The second one especially, with the horizontal branch laid directly over the horizon line, is seriously flawed. The blue seascape is ok, but nothing makes it stand out as superior. The bird shot is sweet.
Incidentally, if there was sufficient resolution in the blue shot, you could see my house on the side of the fill in the background, directly above the lone cypress :-)

Awesome pics...Did you use a filter in the sunset pics? How did you keep the sun from burning out the sky? ND filter? |

After so many comments about cleaning up the bird shot, I finally did some work and here's the cloned out version
