I try to be analytical and offer suggestions in the comments I leave, and I spend a fair amount of time on any photo I comment on -- about 5-10 minutes, so I've never managed to comment on more than 50 in a challenge. I also try not to put people on the defensive, and provide only a constructive rather than "critical" tone. Hopefully, people understand my intent. At least I've never recieved any hate mail yet, and to the contrary, have received a large number of thank-yous (after the challenge).
I to am grateful for the comments I have received here as well, but haven't crossed the border on whether people in general actually want to receive thank you's (after the challenge), so I'll also take this opportunity to thank those who have commented on my shots! I'd also like to give special mention to scalvert (Shannon), and soccerdad (Bill) for their consistently helpful comments on my shots.
