My D70 has arrived this morning (I'm stuck at work for another 10-11 hours though), I won an auction for a 50mm 1.8 and a 70-210mm on ebay last night, and my SB600 and a 512mb UltraII are on their way

To say the least, I'm rather pleased :)

Darren <-- in an exceptionally fine mood :)

Good luck with the camera there Darren, I love my D70 and will have my SB600 just after xmas ( waiting for the sales to kick in LOL) i also have the 512 card but a 256 just incase, these get eaten when shooting in Raw mode though. might consider a Gig card???

Again good luck with camera

Cheers, I know that I can get the 512 quick, I'm sure that many more cards will follow (along with a big HDD, DVD writer etc etc) :)

Might have been if you were following an auction in Germany - now I just have to make sure that my German is good enough to finish the transaction ;)

Welcome welcome to the club!

I love this camera, I have kicked and dropped it, gotten it wet and it keeps on keeping on.

I have a 1 gb sandisk Ultra II and its great, will take a minimum of 94 NEF/RAW files. Make sure you get hold of the Capture 4.1.3 I think it is, chews up the computer resourses but works so well.

I still only have the 18-70mm Nikkon Kit lens :( I'd love to know how the 70-210 goes, that is an older lense, is that correct?

And I need a flash and I need a micro :(

Hope you love it too...

I went for the older, discontinued 70-210 rather than the 70-300 based mainly on the Ken Rockwell reviews his D70 review is very interesting too :)

I'll let you know more about it when I get my hands on it

Cheers :)

Congrats man! You'll love it to bits... I just got my SB-800 from Ebay yesterday and I've done a few tests and .... wow!!!

You might want to swap that 512 for 1 gb. I went with the 512s for my D70, and really wish I'd gone for the 1gb. Cards fill up fast :)

Since price ranges are comperable, you might want to consider Bibble4 for your raw converter. It runs like lightning, and does a nice job. Nikon Capture is excellent software, but I still can't figure out what they did to make it run so slow.

You made the right choice on a zoom. Much higher quality than the 70-300G. Although, that new 70-200 Af-S VR looks like a dreamboat if your pockets are deep :)

Welcome to the club - I hope you enjoy the D70 as much as I do!

I got it from Architronic for CHF 1475 (D70 offer), extra lenses from ebay and other bits from a local dealer.

Hey Darren hows that 70-210 going?

Or if anyone else has this with the D70. There is one on ebay for $AU250.00 is that a reasonable price?
