Zenitar 16mm with adapter can be an amazing lens, there are a few people around here with them and for the $200 or less you spend it's a wow lens. Also I think there's an 8mm peking or something somebody has, it's a little more expensive but i think better than 180 degrees on full frame!
As for your sigma vs canon, I'd always say go canon if you can afford it, but i'm sure if it's sigma EX it'll be well worth the money, and you won't be dissapointed. |

Optically I don't think there's that much difference between the two. I did spring for the canon version, simply because I don't want to have to worry about rechipping down the road. I also feel the Canon wil probably have a higher resale value should I decide to sell (fat chance o' that, LOL).

the canon is better. sigma is a lil softer around the edges. however w/ the crop factor goin on you might want to look into the sigma 8mm which is a good one. you wont get too much fisheye from a 15 mm on a rebel. (or u could always switch to nikon and buy their beautiful 10.5 fisheye, i know i love it =) =) )

There are two ways to mount the Zenitar on EOS cameras; you can use the M42 screw mount version of the lens plus an M42-to-EOS adapter, or there is a version with an EOS mount. Be sure you get the native EOS version, as there have been reports of mirror interference when using an adapter on the M42 version of the 16mm Zenitar.
The Peleng 8mm is a fun lens, it is incredibly sharp in the center of the frame when stopped down a bit. It does show some relatively significant CA towards the periphery of the image circle.
