Ok... here is my delimma, I have money and can't decide if I should buy or wait. I'm going to start a studio in about a year and I'm going to want at least one camera like the 1d mark II and a back up similar to the 20D or if I'm feeling really saucy the 1ds mark II. I currently have a 10D and I dont really need more than that given my current situation. Any idea if there will be an upgrade to the 1d mark II or 20D by this time next year? Will they be comparable in price to what is already out?

Thanks in advance.

Nothing new on Bob Atkins page.

My guess is the next release is a 300D MK II, not a top of the line release. The 20D is very new, the 1D MK II is new and the 1Ds MK II is that even out yet? :) So probly nothing newer in those general ranges.

I'm not sure if that was sarcasm since it hasn't been out that long... but yeah... its out. Although it is out of stock on the site I got the link from.

Just a tiny bit of sarcasm because it's SO new. The 20D is what, 3 months old? The 1D Mk II is like 5 months old tops? The D300 is the oldest of the 3 tho, by far I believe, so I would guess that's next.

It just seems that there is about a 12-16 month turn around for a new model. Given that timeline, by next year at this time, there should be a new version of 1D Mark II out and a new version of the 20D not too far behind. I was just curious.

Not likely, there was about 2.5 years between the 1D (announced September 2001) and the 1D II (announced Jan 2004). Buy what you need now, because there will ALWAYS be a better /newer model later. It's not because that you have a better model later that your current model won't do the job.
