Hello all,

I'm quite the newbie when it comes to digital photography, actually photography in general. I took this photo with my recently purchased Nikon5700.
I'm trying to get the perfect image for a Christmas card. I'd appreciate some critique on this shot and what I could do to improve it.

linkfixed

also, when posting how do I make the images visible instead of just a link?

the link problem is a deep linking violation (Pbase does not allow deep linking). You need to link to the Pbase page, not the file...
It works if you paste it into a new browser window :)
I think what you've got is pretty nice. I like the warm tones. I suppose you want some negative space for text? If so, consider moving the in-focus lights to the left slightly to create some negative space at right. Also, the cloth at lower right doesn't seem to be adding much, possibly you could arrange to move that out-of-frame in favor of something with a bit more color. The red decorations do add to to OOF areas, they bring in a definite holiday mood. Perhaps something green in the lower right?
