I have a Scandisk 256 compactflash card and when I put it into my camera it says (error 2). The code is saying to reformat or us another card. When I try to go to menu on the camera it will not do anything. When I put it into my card reader on the computer the computer will not read it. So now I can not figure out a way to format it agian. Is it dead? I have a Canon 10-D camera

Put the card in your computer. In Windows, click My Computer, then right-click on the "drive" that represents your CF card and select Format.

This will of course erase anything on the card.

Tried that. It says to put a card into the drive.

Sounds dead. Try taking it back to where you bought it?

I don't know if I can help but I do know that certain lens do have problems with certain digital cameras because they are reverse engineered for each camera as the camera manufacture will not share its programing with the other lens manufactures. I belive that Sigma is one of the few that will rework the lens for you if you are having a problem. If you can not figure it out yourself I would recommend calling sigma.

If you only get the error sometimes with the Sigma 105 on the 10D, and other times it is fine, it probably is the connections between the lens and camera. Make sure all the contacts are clean.
If it happens all the time, though, it might need re-chipping.
