Hi,

Does anyone have any idea if those wide angle or macro lenses that fit onto the end of a regular lens are any good? I have a Tamron 28-300 XR Di lens for my Canon 10D, and I need a wide angle lens as well as a macro lens for a class I am taking. I have seen those lenses that fit onto the end of your regular lens and I was wondering if anyone thought they were a good way to save money and still take quality pics?

I have no experience with these types of lenses, but my guess is that the quality of the images produced won't be too good.

Hope you get more advice.

I used to have a set... They're ok, you can get some cool effects from them, but I would reccomend getting a regualar macro. It seem like I couldn't get everything in focus, like the edges of the photo. They were kind of weird.

Well.... that was my suspision. If it looks too good to be true... it probably is... thanks for the info. My Tamron lens has a macro setting, but I need to be closer. Maybe a macro filter would be best. Thanks for the comments!

Look into extension tubes - no extra glass to reduce quality, though you do lose some light.

Hi,

I am so excited that you think extension tubes are a good idea with my lens! I bought some yesterday and can't wait to get them!! Thanks for the info!
