Welcome to the moneypit of DSLR. I recently upgraded from the 707 to a 20D as well. Dropped over $5000 in the last month already!

Umm... look at the diagrams? ;oP Seriously, to put it on, slide it down, and to take it off, slide it upwards.

You should be able to grab the English manuals off the Canon site, just don't ask me where exactly!
Congrats on your newly acquired badassness : )

Yap i've seen the diagrams but there is something on the strap that doesn't come on the manual that it's the eyepiece holder and i don't know how to make it stick to that little rubber thing. I know it's a stupid question but...

I know i'm being a pain in the a** but after the signal on the batery charger is red is it fully powered or do i have to wait a little more, and if it is the first time i'm charging should i leave it more time?

Oh that - you need to remove the eyecup in order to attach it - it's intended for long exposure shots when you want to mimise light leakage via the viewfinder, but shouldn't be attached otherwise.

TBH, I can't remember, but it won't hurt it to leave it charging for a while longer...

Discraft - when the charger is fully red, it's done charging. When it's blinking twice, it's about half charged, and when it blinks three times, it's 75% done.
edited to add: I remember reading somewhere recently that it's actually not that good of an idea to leave a battery on a charger for an extended period of time. Though I 'spect it won't hurt to leave it on for a day or two, I generally cap my extra ones and store them somewhere warm, rotating through the bunch as I do jobs.

It's fine to leave the battery on the charger indefinitely. It doesn't continue to run juice through the battery when it's fully charged.

As with most chargers, you should not leave it in the charger. The battery charge will start to dip with time, and then the charger will activate and top it off. Whereas Lithium Ion batteries are not supposed to have a memory, it's not good to leave it in a discharge/recharge cycle "continuously". |

Here is the link to the manual for the 20D. It's located under the "Getting Started" Section

Page 1: Félicitations! Votre nouvelle caméra est très BADASS! Woot Woot!
The rest doesn't matter. Just play around. Have fun.
PS. Get the manual in English. It does come in handy sometimes. It's hard to look BADASS when you're frantically fiddling with the buttons. LOL!
