One word: w00t.
Lee
P.S. If he gets hurt the SC may remove this thread and my account --- you cant take pitchas when you're crying and punching a wall. Then again, us Mets fans are used to that kind of stuff... |

Pedro Martinez was a member of the Boston Red Sox who won baseball's World Series this year. He has been an amazing pitcher (similar position to "bowler" if I understand crickett) who really wanted to be a franchise player (the undisputed star.)
Here in Boston, as fans, we have embraced the idea of "Team Ball" (Patriots [American football], the Celtics [Basketball] of old, and possibly new, and last year's Red Sox.) We are a little unforgiving of great players who let their egos get too near the surface.
Unfortunately, that sort of happened here with Pedro. My own opinion is that Like Nomar Gaciaparra before him, we are loosing a great player, but despite that, I think the clubhouse, and by extension the fans, will be better off.
But, I also think that it is a great deal for the Mets, because Pedro is a great player and probably has a few great years left in his arm. And as an improving franchise, he will really help them. All in, seems a good deal for all.
The original "w00t" that started this thread is beyond my grasp.
edited spelling.

The Mets way overpaid for an aging superstar who will be injured much of the time. Hell, he is hurt right now.
Remember Mo Vaughn? |

Remember George Foster? Another player they paid a huge price for only to be a big bust. What did the Mets give up for him? Was this a free agent deal?
