When your ending score is 5.3 - 5.6, what does that really mean? Is that like a C or a D?

What that means really depends on how everyone else is doing. My first submission fininshed at just over 5.68, and this was in the top 21%, so I guess that is a 79, which is a high C, but I was pretty happy to finish 55th of 260.

top 21% is a C ?? I think I might be getting a F on average.

C based on the old
90-100% A
80-90% B
70-80% C
etc....

The score says one thing, but it is all realtive to the other entries.
Lately i think the quality of entries is WAY up (on average, many fewer bad images to fill up the bottom 20%), sooooo would you rather have a B in high school algebra, or a C in college calculus?

Perhaps a better way to look at the scoring is to use it as an indication of whether you are improving or not. For me I am more interested in competing with my pervious photo's scores then worrying too much about how I am comparing to others. This works for me since my main reason for entering the challenges is to try and improve my photography skills.

Scott that is a great way of thinking, because that is what I am trying to do as well, to gain better skills. Thanks :-)
