Has anyone shot any stunning crystal clear photographs with Tamron lenses? Such as the Tamron 28-75 2.8 XR DI LD or the Tamron 28-300 XR 3.5-6.3? I have these lenses and I'm wondering what differences I would see If I bought a canon lens since they're so damn expensive.. Thanks.

I have the Tamron 28-75 2.8 XR DI and it seems really clear. Below is an example taken indoors no flash only available lighting...

The Tamron 28-75 f2.8 is quite popular with wedding photographer as a viable alternative to "L" glass. The consensus seems to be that it delivers comparable image quality, is significantly lighter, and you can buy three of them for the cost of the similar L version. It also seems to focus a bit slower, and is not as sturdily constructed.

very tempting indeed, but I think I might the canon 85mm or maybe the 100mm for around the same pricing. I have to say tho, I like my tamron!

I was just reading a thread on the Canon 85mm 1.8 and saw some low light pictures... OH MY GOD! Amazing quality!

Comparing primes to zooms on sharpness is really an apples to oranges comparison. Primes will best zooms almost every time and do it for less $$.

The $70 50mm f1.8 is one of the sharpest lenses you can get. Period.

I took this shot with my Tamron 28-300mm XR

I cropped this picture quite a bit to get this image and was still able to print it at 8x10 with excellent results. For macro shots I find I need to switch to manual focus to get the sharpest results. It also seems like everything coming out of the camera needs a little bit of sharpening to make it crisp. I think this is the nature of digital photography. I have shot a lot of slide film with this lens and can project them at wall size and still find them to be very sharp.

Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to compare my experience with this lens to a good Canon lens. For me, the price/performance ratio of the Tamron is very good.
