First shoot in the home studio I have recently set up.

Half to actually get some fetish photos, half to have a play in the studio and get used to the lights, trying different setups etc.

This is the first of several such shoots I am planning, with a variety of models. There are a heap more in this batch I have yet to work through.

looks to me that your lights are working quite well.
just out of curiosity i'd like to see how one the white BG pics looks straight off the camera.

i'm not a big fan of these types of photos. these are definately above average though.

nice work.

I agree with soup that the lighting is good. Overall they are all good. I'm curious to see a descriptioin of your setup.

I'm assuming you're using plexiglass on the floor for the white background, but curious to know what else was used.

I'm certainly no expert at people shot or studio-like shots. I like the images on black as the mixture of light and shadow works well. Your shots on white looks like the light was mostly from behind, which while adding to the effect in the first by brightening up her face and the shadow on the ground in the first and second images, I find that there is a lot of darkened shadow areas from the front. Most noticeably in her legs in the first and her face in the second.

Thanks for the comments guys.

For the lighting I have x2 500W studio strobes and a couple of Canon Speedlights (though I only used one).

For the white background I placed both of the studio strobes behind the model and fired them directly at the background, set about 3 stops over the exposure on the model.

As I am having a problem firing them along with the Speedlights when off shoe, solution on order, I unfortunately had to mount the 580ex Speedlight on the camera (I prefer having it on a stand off to one side).

All photos are pretty much straight out of the camera.

What else did I use? Yup, a sheet of plexiglass for the reflection under her. Continuous white (or black obviously) paper. That was about it.

It was largely a practice session to get used to the lights, and we intend to redo the shoot. We got some great fetish style shots but most had boobs out and we later realised they would have actually looked better with something fetishy covering them ... which would also make them more acceptable for mainstream sites.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I don't like the white background! The model looks cold and unnatural.

The black background works well.

Fetish photos work better with ambient lighting, the white ones have a look of necrophilia, you have such a great model that she would look better if she looked like she was warm, rather than in a refrigrator.

But then, I'm not an expert in fetish, but they are great shots none the less.

I don't like the facial expressions of your model. Most of the time she looks as if she is really bored/uninterested. Could perhaps parly be the makeup as well. Something she could work on in front of the mirror. A more sexy, playful look perhaps.
Also have the feeling that the color is too cold and the lighting might work better with more diffusion.
In Anke4 the position of the shoe is not nice.
When it comes to pose I like Anke2 the most.

Yup, I didn't manage to get the white lighting the way I wanted it exactly and they do look a little cold.

I disagree though about the ambient lighting issue. The deliberate high contrast look can look excellent for fetish photos, especially with some of the amazing PVC outfite out there (but we lack those).

Some of the other pics came out very well indeed with that style of lighting, but are not suitable for DPC. We intend another shoot in the next month or so which may have more DPC suitable shots (the other we have are all technically legal, but I don't think would be right for here regardless.

The harsher look was very deliberate for what we were trying to do. Looking more towards cold, some others are even fierce, rather than playful/sexy. We were actually trying to get the cold look ... facially though, rather than the lighting.

I think those would look alot better in B&W if you´d aske me!....
nudes/semi nudes are hard work specially having the skin look good.

good luck

Yup, agree with you there Nazgul, some of these do look better in B&W.

Am still working through the originals in colour and will then do the b&w thing as I am a huge fan of b&w.

Might even solve that cold lighting issue the easy way :)
