I went back and forth a few times on which of these to enter.

My entry:

My outtake:

The outtake was actually the first night I shot there and after working with those shots decided to go back a bit earlier in the evening to capture the scene a little differently.

I do like this shot of the arch quite a bit. I would have scored this one quite high I think.

My out take.

My entry got some bad border comments (and a good one too!) and I think it is a prettier picture, but with a score of 4.733 and placing in the BOTTOM 10% I suppose ANY other photo would have been better.
I still my title hurt me a bit.

This had a more classic landmark look than my entry, but I'd already used this building once
and wanted to try something different.

For the Peace Wall (actually taken from almost the same spot but turned 90 degrees!),

I chose to include the person in what's supposed to be a moment of quiet contemplation partly for the "feeling" it gives*, and partly because otherwise I'd pretty much end up with just a straight-on shot of some other artwork.

*I was thinking of the recent winning photo of the Vietnam Memorial:

----- My Submission ----------- My Outtake ------

Oh well. With the weather here lately and being out of town for a
wrestling tournament that weekend, it was all I could come up with.

I was very happy with my result so I don't regret the choice, certainly glad I didn't enter my shot of St Pauls, I think it would have suffered given the 2 great shot's that finished in the top ten. Although was tempted to enter the Gherkin as it's London's newest Landmark, a Sir Norman Foster Building about 500 metres from where I work
