As the camera is too awesome pictures from it can not be submited to the challenges :P
PM one of the SC and they can add it to the camera list. Not sure how the digi-back captures the EXIF info, the camera might not be used, depending on this .

hmm...yes you are right... the back does not support EXIF info yet (to bad), but leaf manufactures promiss EXIF info on next version.
thank you.
Guess I have to use my Sony f707 :) |

I added it to the list, but could not find a "MP" for it. Also, if it does not record EXIF, it would not be able to be used for challenges. I do not know what the verdict is on this camera, so let me bring it up with SC, so I can find out more info.
Ok, you answered the question for me. lol I'm a little slow I guess. lol. Still added the camera, but will note that it does not support exif. thanks for the info.

I think we've found the most badassest one of all. I'm in favour of allowing it, but why would you add a device when you're not allowing it to enter challenges? Don't make no sense.

i agree with jimmythefish, i dont see the use of listing it (if i cant submit with it) until leaf supports EXIF, but still if posible would like to use it... |

There's no way he should be able to enter with that puppy :P...
That is one intensely badass camera. Hell what sort of res images do you get out of that - 5750 X 4000 ??? and Large frame too.
scary.
But at the price of a small sedan it would want to be I guess.

Since it's a digital back, you could submit the EXIF on a postit note. ;) |

Since the Mamiya 645AFD is a medium-format camera that is capable of using both film and digital backs, personally I think it makes more sense to list the digital back as the "camera" (i.e. "Leaf P22"). By listing the camera just as "Mamiya 645AFD", somebody may think it is acceptable to use a film camera on this site.
Or, perhaps the solution is to list:
Mamiya 645AFD + Leaf
calivas, can you provide the model number of the Leaf back and we'll discuss?
Thanks! |

22MP!!! You better take good pictures with that! Don't be like those people that buy the latest/fastest computers to play solitaire!

Isn't that mostly for studio use? I thought those digital backs were mainly used while tethered to a laptop or something, although I guess with one of those 4GB cards you could get by for a few shots ... |

A lot of the newer ones do have a CF slot. Some of the older ones have accessory hard drives that attach to the back to free the photographer from the tether |

in reply to 'EddyG' the model of the back is "leaf valeo 22" from CREO.
on the sticker it says for mamiya 645af-d, but i am not sure if it can be connected to other cameras.

and yes it is for studio use only, it has to be connected to a computer. (in my case a Mac G5), but i can take it out with a laptop. |

Cool ... I've read some about these since way back when they were first starting to compete with drum scanners for high-end studio photography, but never had a chance to use one or talk to anyone who had one.
Do they now support "normal" shutter speeds? As I recall, the very first large digital camera backs (for view cameras) required exposures measured in seconds or minutes.
