Some kid bumped into my lens yesterday :/
I didn't look at my cam for a split second and it all happened so fast :(
Good thing I had the 75-300 and not the 18-55 kit lens.
Anyways, I think everything is working fine...
By the way, does the motor keep spinning (even after the lens has attained focus) when you have the shutter release button pressed half way? I didn't notice this before...

Ok... pushing this thread up so it doesn't get lost :)
In short, my question is, When I hold the shutter release button half way, does the motor on a USM lens keep turning even after focus has been attained? Atleast, I hear the sound on mine... Thanks for any replies in advance.

Could it be the IS you are hearing?

It could be either IS or if you have your focus set to AI Servo to track the subject

I hear the IS on both of my IS lenses. It sounds like a motor running the whole time you have the shutter half-way down. You can hear focus sounds too, but they are generally intermittent noises.
