Hi everyone,
I posted a note a few days ago saying that one of my photos was selected as a finalist in the Japan Times photo contest. Well, the voting has begun and I wanted to announce that anyone who wants to can go to the web site and vote on their 10 favorite photos. Just go to the URL below and click on the yellow "Kanto" button:
//job.japantimes.com/jtphoto/03.htm
Please vote for any photos you like, but my photo (plug, plug) is the one called "Goldfish Boys":
Thanks, and wish me luck! :-)

I voted Phillip. Yours really is one of the best ones in there. What memories this brought back for me. I miss Okinawa so much. :( |

Thanks Bren and Tiberius. My wife is a professor at a university in Tokyo, so we moved the famiy here for a couple of years. I'm a freelance writer so I can do that from pretty much anywhere. And during our stay, I've been studying photography, which is a lot of fun in a foreign culture since pretty much everything is interesting enough to photograph here. Thanks for your support!

I voted also, and yours was in the top 10.
Also I like your shot of #26 Rainbow Bridge better than the one posted in that contest. When I looked at it I thought it should be cropped at the bottom. Then I saw yours. |

Thanks, Fulgent! I submitted my Rainbow Bridge shot too, but it didn't make it to the finals. Guess the judges liked that other one better. :-)

Didn't make it to the finals? I thought some of the photos were so bad that they only had 50 entries altogether in the Kanto section. (But then it makes voting easier.) |

I had to lie and say that I'm in Kanto to vote for you, Phil.
I hope that you do well. You've got my vote.
Edited to say that I hadn't read the rules very well and could have voted for both sets.

Aww... thanks to my fellow Japan contingency members. I'm glad you figured out, Jim, that you can vote for either category you like. I'd hate for people to lie just for little ol' me. ;-)
