It would be cool, maybe relieve some of the tension, if the "average score" daily statistic for a challenge were published somewhere (e.g., on the main challenge page).
I was just thinking how people are fretting (me too) over their low scores on Yellow. But it seems a lot of people are in that boat, and the average score is pretty low. So maybe it would make people less nervous, and hopefully, less vengeful in scoring, to see the current average score (say, calculated once a day, or once an hour, to relieve CPU burden).
I understand the arguments and agree we don't want people to see their rank. But average is a very general statistic showing you how the general vote plays out.
Just a thought.

well that might sway the voters idea of what an average vote is.
using the daily posted average score as their average in voting would only make things worse.

Ok, I have a better idea.
Let's have a sitewide change--hide the scores until the end of the week, no peeking.
That solves the same problem.

If you're strong enough, you can disable your own score in your preferences. But most of us are sooo weak ....

it wouldn't matter - you would still be able tell your score above or below average. only the final score might be pushed to one side or the other. making the 1-10 vote scale kind of irrelevant.
and you must be in a wonderful place to be able to say that :}
