Hmmm, maybe I should just return to the trees on another windy day this week and do a reshoot.

It's been really windy here recently, too...
Though I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of the same picture.
*goes on a quest for originality!* |

I could reshoot this:
But enough people recognised that it was my shot that time round, so I won't try it again :P

has anyone noticed that if we combine the two current challenges, we get breaking wind? are our site creators displaying a puerile sense of humour here?? ;) |

Is the best way to catch something blowing in the wind with a slow shutter speed?
Thanks

Figures... ironically we had a big wind storm just last night that caused all kinds of damage around here! |

I feel your pain, it was the worst wind storm we have had here also. I went out last night to secure the lid on my hot tub and my tree was like a twig in the wind when it's actually 50 year old tree (Big Tree). Twigs and branches were just falling everywhere and what to I see this morning... a challenge to do with wind ... DOH... |

Anyone else notice the humor in the two current challenges?
Broken . . . Wind. :) |

That would certainly do it... I'd expect there to be a lot of lengthy exposures in this challenge. Unless the wind is really strong, there may not be much other way to communicate the motion.
Another idea I had was the use of a fan, probably on high power. I notice that a lot of the time it's heavily composed, indoor studio shots that do well in competitions here, and a fan has the benefit of being steady and controlled. I think I might try to do something with this, as I simply don't live in a windy area or have the time to go out and wait for it to get windy. |

I have two ideas...Can i share?
One i will do and submit, so I can't share that (although i expect to see 10 of them)
how about Woody tied to a balloon being blown away by the wind?
or flying a kite?
with a wig, hair blowing in the wind?
Hmm, maybe i'll skip my common thought for a Woody entry...anyone got any Woody jokes? - he needs to smile more.

I was thinking of a sail boat, but since it is winter time I am out of luck. |

I could only think of Marilyn Monroe pose
But since I don't have the model with me, I need to think about something else :D |

I suppose I'd be stretching it a little if I reshot these:

I think that this challenge should produce some great photos. There is potential for great action photos of wind surfers or kite surfers etc.
I have some ideas for my own entry (not having convenient access to wind related action sports!!) but unfortunately there is a distinct lack of wind here in London. (Dead leaves are still hanging from the branches of the trees...) maybe something will come up... but I might have to go down the 'macro' path and try a dandelion clock (if there are any still around!)
Good luck all...
Chris

This challenge would have been great back in September when I had hurricanes to shoot!! Oh well, guess I'll have to think. |
