How can i make the rays of the sun stick out more on a photo.
for example on this photo. how do i make the rays stick out.
Please help.

Try increasing the contrast. Play around with curves and see what you get. |

That's what I do. Figure out what tonal values the rays have, and make that area of the curve steepest. I have a couple of examples here. |

You also have a straight horizon line -- create a mask so you can apply the tone curve to the sky and lower areas separately. |

I think the images i've got are not very good for that. i've been playing around and i'm not getting the effect right!

In PS, use the burn tool on the midtones or shadows only. That'll do it. |

Here's a quick take...
Selective curves, applied separately above and below the horizon line, and another selective curves applied just in the area of the sun rays. Finally, a bit of hue/saturation adjustment.

thanks for the homework i'l try that out. but i think i'm not very good at the selective parts, if someone has a good site where i can learn better i would appreciate it. thanks everyone.
