the first one has a lot of noise. You might like to use ISO 100 or 200 and not 800 on 300D

edit: typo

No orchids? They have a zillion of wonderful orchids there at Longwood. Their lighting sucks, though, and i also was there when it was dark outside and it's not the same with flash... I'm thinking of going there again during the day just for that.

I like the creative noisiness and desat/coloring effect in both of your photos, as well as the balanced and appealing composition. The first one has highlights almost at the point of being blown. They are not 255/255/255, but they stand out and that's not very cool.

But generally they are very good, non-standard, original and not one of those obligatory macro shots of the nearest flower that one sees so often everywhere.

Addition to clarify: The noise makes the shots. I would even increase it.

Longwood Gardens in the converatory has very poor lighting, thus why the ISO is so high. Thanks for your concern. No tripods allowed either.

I like Flower2 better because it's off center and the composition is more appealing to me, along with the colors. But I think you need to get more light for both these shots. In Flower2, the middle needs more light or lightening with the dodge tool. Flower1 has very harsh lighting and the composition seems chaotic. I had to hunt for what was in focus, though I like soft focus in flower shots. I think you've caught the texture of the white petals pretty good, though.

"Image has lots of noise..." How many times have we heard that one?!? Ok, not to be rude, confrontational, etc. (so PLEASE don't take it that way) but I wish commenters would realize that sometimes noise is used to enhance an image. In this case, I don't think the noise detracts at all and I like the images! They are different and offer a unique perspective. Good work!!

Supposedly, someone tripped and fell one day over a tripod, so now they dont allow them after 12PM.

Thank you. I enjoy the little bit of noise that was introduced, and I refuse to use Neat Image.
