This is my entry for BWII:
Here is the original:
I wanted to crop close enough to really show the detail of the hair plugs, but I wonder if I cropped too much away. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Ara

I don't find the crop too tight. In fact when I was looking at it during the challenge, I thought it was a really good crop and even after seeing the original, I still believe that.
I think it's a very strong image presented well. |

I also think you made the right decision on the crop. BTW, good on you for having the courage to submit an image that's "not pretty."

I kinda like both except for the diagonal black bit in the lower left, that would have had to have gone. For black and white the crop probably was the better way to go, though. |

Brrr, that's one disturbing photo! Well done. I like the cropped version better. More impact!

There's something about "almost square but not quite" cropped photos that bugs my eyes a bit...I would rather have seen a slightly different crop.
I think the uncropped original is very close to perfect...especially the way the lines made by the driftwood/garbage seem to come from all different angles to meet directly in the line of eyesight of the doll's head. And the balance is incredible. I think your eyes caught it right when you first took the photo...
Anyway, what really matters here is that such an excellent photo received less than 5.5!?!?
Great work, I think you deserved a much better score!
