Hi there!
I was wondering what plug ins do you all use, if you use any, in Photoshop. I've read that there is one very nice to do automatic frames in the photos. And what is the most recent version of Neat image?
thank's in advance.

I myself use Virtual Photographer. It is a great plug-in with many features and manual controls that was made for the photographer who wants to see their digital work look like film work. Follow the link and download it for free --- it does some truly awesome stuff!

I use a plug-in called "Grain Surgery" before "Neat Image" was available for the Mac I started to use it. This plug-in is a great tool for removing noise/grain from your photos.

Eric, I've considered Grain Surgery in the past, it seems to get great reviews. The price, though, is a little off-putting. How do you feel about the performance? Do you feel it justifies $179?

I use:
- NeatImage (Pro version as plug-in)
- PTLens (corrects lens distortion)
- PanoTools Plug-in (more transformation & correction tools)
- Focus Magic (deconvolution-based tool for fixing minor OOF & subject motion)
That's about it for stuff I use regularly.

Hi Fritz,
I started to learn about Neat Image about 6 months ago. When I learned it was not available for the Mac I started to look for an alternative. I came across Grain Surgery and downloaded a demo version and started to play around with it. Grain Surgery became a great tool for me and allows me to shoot at higher ISO settings knowing that I will be able to minimize the noise in post editing.
So for me, I was able to justify the price and am very happy with it.

I use Virtual Photographer also, it is great fun just to try out on your photos.
Been using on it some old scanned pics, from the dark and distant past when I was young and stupid...only one thing has changed...I'm older now.
It's well worth downloading and it's FREE!! |

Color Temperature & Exposure Correction Plug-In
Shareware version supports Photshop - for $30.00 video can be added. I am finding this to be a worthy filter. |

I don't think these are plug in's but Actions. There are some great ones here for download, frames, effects etc.
Someone here posted this a while ago, but I can't remember her name to give her credit.

So all of these programs like Neat Image and Virtual Photographer, can be used as plug-ins with photoshop? Forgive me if it's a stupid question.

I am guessing by the sounds of it, not all of them will work with my mac.
Anybody know of a plug-in for PS7 that will allow me to work with RAW files? |

Richard Rosenman ( //www.richardrosenman.com/ ) sells for $20 each "Advanced Color Corrector" and "Lens Corrector Pro", both of which I use.
The first basically puts all your color correction tools on a single, very extensive interface, allowing you to tweak color without hopping through several overlays. The second is stunningly effective in correcting for barrel distortion on trhe prosumer zooms, and can also be revrse-used to produce a fisheye effect, though I have rarely used it to distort. But the barrel distortion in my lens at wide angle is maddening, and this is a godsend.
Fred Miranda has a $30.00 B/W workflow plugin that is REALLY helpful in fine tuning B/W conversions: //www.fredmiranda.com/shopping/BW
Xero has 4 sets of free plugins, many of which are interesting-to-very useful. I make a lot of use of their "misitifier" which is in set 1: //www.xero-graphics.co.uk/xero/index.htm?plugins.htm

I'm still waiting for my 'Advantedge' to come.. PS plug-in $500 ouch!
Other than that I didn't even know you could remove grain and all that.
wow, it's amazing. You can totally blow a pic and fix it with 42 photoshop plugins
Sounds like GRain Surgery could actually be a good idea since the D70 always seems to have grain.
