Here is the raw shot of my October Free study submission. It got a lot of criticism on the editing that was done. Alltough I know The true story of Jack Schitt I'm not very knowledged on editing. So I saw quite a few members do that for their own pictures today and I now invite all those that are willing to goahead and make that picture spectacular.

There are a lot of details in the image especially with the vast amount of foreground foliage and working on such a small image makes the edits look very exaggerated.

These are all great! It's just amazing to me how many different ways one picture can be adjusted and still be good.
Here is my attempt at it:

A bunch of editing on the above...
- Levels tweak
- A bit of USM
- A high-radius USM to reduce haze
- Curves
- hue/sat
- Selective curves to bring up and clarify reflection
- Selective hue/sat on reflection
- Dodge & burn
- Selective hue/sat, blur, & channel mixer on sky
- Slight soft focus (overlaid 3px blur @ 15% opacity

No kidding! A lot more steps than I usually use : )
Great job.

It would be cool/educational to see each intermediate stage ... I try to capture screenshots showing the adjustment and preview/result, like in these examples from another discussion
