Hello,

I have the Nikon D70 and three lenses:
Sigma 70 to 300 mm f 4
Sigma 28 to 70mm f 2.5
AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor18 to 70mm f/3.5-4.5G

I do wildlife photography of monkeys, bears and birds. I hike a lot to my destinations. Weight is a huge factor to me. I'd like to buy a used 300mm prime lens for under $600 USD and I don't mind going manual. can anyone tell me of experiences with some of the lower end 300mm prime lenses?

I also want to start doing more close up work and do the odd small wedding. Any suggestions for lens sizes for close-up and portrait shots. I know the standard is 50mm or 80mm for wedding work, but any suggestions on less expensive used lenses?

Thanks in advance!

Even new, you can't get much cheaper than the 50mm f1.8 Nikkor I think it's around $90.

For portraits, you might think about the Nikon 60mm Macro. At 60mm, you get a nice normal lens for portraits as well as a fantastic macro. (Sorry, I can't advise on prices.) Since getting that lens, my f1.8 50mm is spending more and more time in the bag and the 60mm is the usual attachment.
