Some bird photos taken today...comments/critiques?

Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D

Took these at Palo Alto Baylands in CA. all these were taken with 75-300 F4-5.6 lens. Please let me know what you think and ways to improve.

i like the 1st alot but the 2nd and 3rd loose my intrust

the 2nd seems an avrige shot that has been croped to get up close.

the 3rd is starting to grow on me i like the angle i just wish it had more bottom or top (can't deside)

The first one is the most interesting -- makes me stop and think how you got level with a soaring bird.

The second is my favorite -- something about the sky or the way the sun lights up his body and leaves a shadow on the wings.

I just bought a 10D and have not decided on a lens yet. I'm borrowing one right now from the friend who sold the 10D to me. Do you mind telling me what kind of lens you used and what your settings were? Shutter priority mode? Thanks. These are certainly the kinds of bird photographs I'd like to be taking with the 10D.

thanks Brando and David for your comments. The first one is also my fav...but now I am thinking, I think I am beginning to like the 4th most
