Umm,
I don't mean to be picky, but selecting any shutter speed slower than X-sync (1/200th on your 10D?) would have produced the same result, as you're using a flash, not ambient light... And for shutter speeds faster than X-sync you'd have to be using FP (High speed sync) mode which I'm not sure will work with the 550 in manual mode. Your exposure shift list would be right for an ambient light exposure though..

Hmmm, just re-read my previous post..
Forgot to say that if you change the apeture, it will change the exposure.
The theory being that shutter speed (below X-sync) is totally irrelevent to the exposure when using predominantly flash for your lighting. This is because the flash only lasts a few thousandths of a second...
