Thickhead: About this challenge time, are they referring to time past or time that is currently passing?
Knucklehead: That is a good question.
Thickhead: I smell ambiguity here, are we being sandbagged?
Knucklehead: here let us sparse the instructions: Take a photograph that illustrates the passing of time.
Thickhead: passing is certainly present
Knucklehead: Let us get concrete. A picture can not show the passing of time. The very image has already passed. It is history.
Thickhead: How about a concept or a suggestion of the passing of time.
Knucklehead: Look, do not get too deep. Say I do a rusted screw.
Thickhead: Mmm...that does show time passed but not quite time passing.
Knucklehead: How about baby shoes and then some cute progressive snapshots and then the adult?
Thickhead: To me that just demonstrates past to present or time passed, but certainly not time passing.
Knucklehead: How about a stick of dynamite with the fuse burning?
Thickhead: Do get near that. Even so, it is time standing because the image has frozen the conclusion.
Knucklehead: How about the old clock with time exposure...
Thickhead: No, no. Do you know how many clocks there will be. Besides they too will be frozen.
Knucklehead: I am going to sit this one out. There is no way to show time passing.
Thickhead: I am going to think and think until I can get the image that will show time passing.
Knucklehead: Maybe we are being too critical. Who is going to care if time passed or is passing.
Thickhead: Yeah, who will care, everybody does what they want anyway.
knucklehead: Precicely. I think I will present an image of time stopped. That will get them.
Thickhead: I think many people have tried that. we can not really stop time.
Knucklehead: I'm gonna take aspirin. These challenges drain me.

i was thinking the same things, certianly the most popular choice will be a varation of a clock/stopwatch shot long exposure

I was thinking the same exact thing -- "passing time" sounds a lot better than "time passing" but it is what it is.

Good post graphicfunk but:
I guess I fall in the ‘knucklehead’ category on this one I need an aspirin. Not because I don’t have any Ideas because I have a few. I just seems that I can’t get the shot I need. One is to dangerous, one requires me to find something that is hard to find, and one requires a lot of PS editing that I believe falls within the advanced editing rules but I don’t know to much about PS7. ahhhhhhh!!!!
LOL

Why post any more? Graphicfunk has said it all! Made me laugh and laugh! Read it outloud to my family - Magnus laughed and laughed, son thinks we're weird.

Thanks!

Very funny! You hit all the obvious points, but it IS possible to show the passing of time effectively. Ironically, I have lots of ideas (including one I've been saving), but no time to shoot (two parties and a family visit this weekend). Think outside the clox!
