Actually, Eugene lost his party's nomination at the DNC in Chicago to Hubert H. Humphrey. Humphrey, in turn, lost to Nixon in the general election.

Your point is still true, just a little history correction for you young'uns.

Funny--last night I was thinking of proposing a "Weapons of Mass Destruction" challenge topic. Maybe we could find them for the gov. (But most people would just post pics of their children and pets ;)

We had a photo shoot last weekend with a child that would have qualified as a weapon of mass destruction! Oh my word I've never seen a child move that fast.

No, their votes and comments are not removed, just their image.

Somebody went through last night and removed all of their comments from the active challenges because they received some PM's after they commented. Your missing comment is likely related to that; there are threads talking about the "incident" and an opinion poll has been put up for everyone to vote on.

No, I don't PM during Challenges but have been reading that thread. Thanks for the Info.

Thanks. Those Minnesota senators all look alike to me.

there's a huge difference between the pre-nov 2 political and the absolutely tongue-in-cheek going on here

... Richard Nixon (who was coincidently a sort of mentor, or role model, for Joe, having cut his political teeth by nailing Soviet spy Alger Hess while serving on the infamous House Un-American Activities Committee).

That was Alger HISS who was convicted of spying ... not to be confused with Karl HESS, former speechwriter for Republican Presidential nominee Barry Goldwater and a noted anarchist. A sample:

"Libertarianism is rejected by the modern left -- which preaches individualism but practices collectivism. Capitalism is rejected by the modern right-which preaches enterprise but practices protectionism. The libertarian faith in the mind of men is rejected by religionists who have faith only in the sins of man. The libertarian insistence that men be free to spin cables of steel as well as dreams of smoke is rejected by hippies who adore nature but spurn creation. The libertarian insistence that each man is a sovereign land of liberty, with his primary allegiance to himself, is rejected by patriots who sing of freedom but also shout of banners and boundaries. There is no operating movement in the world today that is based upon a libertarian philosophy. If there were, it would be in the anomalous position of using political power to abolish political power."
