Hello folks,
I'm looking to go in for a Nikon D70 kit and I found 2 interesting deals on buydig.com
1) //buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=E5NKD70
which comes with Tamron Twin Zoom deluxe Kit w/28-80mm and 75-300mm zoom lenses
2) //buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=E3NKD70
which comes with Nikon 28-100 f3.5-5.6 G AF zoom nikkor lens and Nikon 70-300/4-5.6D ED ZOOM AF NIKKOR.
I would greatly appreciate your feedback if you have used any of these lenses in the past.

Need to remember that the 28mm is actually a 42mm (conversion). If you want to do more wide angle work, you will need another lens. I love the 18-70mm kit lens. comes to 27-105mm. Can get some pretty decent "wider" angle shots with it. ie-landscape.

i just bought the d-70 kit with the 10.5 mm fisheye. its a great lens and you can also convert all your fisheye images to rectilinear images, so if you're lookin wide angle that lens is worth a look, its about 600$ for the lens though.
edit* the kit lens is really a good lens though for what you pay

Yup the 18-70 kit lens is a lovely bit of glass. I really like it.
Wouldn't be without the wide angle it provides.

Unless you already have DX glass, I would recommend you find a deal on the D70 body with the 18-70mm DX. Those zooms listed are ok, but with the crop factor you'll find that their reach is pretty far, leaving a big hole in your focal lengths at wide angle. The DX series is wicked bang for the buck, and takes very sharp photos. The kit lens covers a very useful focal length range. I really wouldn't buy either of those options unless you planned to buy the DX 18-70 or 12-24 seperately.

I think that the DX kit lense is your best bet for the D70. it's a fantastic lense, can't be beat for the price.

| Just to add more fire for the DX kit - I bought my D70 with the Nikkor 28-200 f/3.5-5.6 zoom. I just bought the kit 18-70 to fill in the wide angle. In hindsight, I wish I'd just started with it. Because of the crop factor, filling in the wide angle can cost some serious $$. I'm planning to trade in my 28-200 for the 80-200 f/2.8, with or without VR I'm not sure yet. |

I was going to say the same thing. The 18-70mm DX kit lens is a fabulous lens. The focus is SOOOOO fast and silent. Very versatile lens. Definitely the lens I leave on my camera when I don't specifically need a different one. |

Agreed. lately i find that i have been using it more and more... i'd say that at this point, at least 75% of my shooting is done on the 18-70

| here here. 18-70 is awesome. when i got the camera i was planning on using 2 existing lenses from my N65, but once i got to the store, i realized that i wouldnt like the crop factor and just bit the bullet because i would end up getting it in the long run. |

Wow... Reading this thread really makes it clear that Nikon made a good choice in their DX kit lens. I don't think I've *ever* seen someone argue against this advice on *any* site.

| Ok folks, I think you guys have convinced me to go in for the 18-70 mm DX lens kit. buydig.com sells this for $1299.95 with a $100 mail-in rebate. Has anyone come across a better deal? |

| I did not buy the 18-70, I thought my existing 24-120 would do. I still saving up the cash for the 18-70. |
