Okay I got a question. Searched the forums but didnt find anything.

Im planning on going away to Poland for 4 weeks next summer. I was thinking of getting a portable hardrive to store my photos.
I saw that Ipods can hold photos. Now since I dont plan on having access to a PC, I wonder if there is anyway that an Ipod can download photos straight from the camera???

Thank You.

It's nice to see the forums work so well, and so fast.

I used that Belkin adapter while I was on vacation (looks like they dropped the price), and it worked great with my iPod. I just carried them both around with me. Stored over 2500 pictures and barely made a dent in the iPod's storage capacity. The transfer does drain the battery quite a bit, though.

I just got the Archos Gmini400.
It is awesome!
It has a slot for directly downloading from Compact Flash.
It plays MP3s and Movies.

It is really sweet!

I was at the Apple store the other day and I learned something that might be important to you.

Be aware you cannot see your pictures on the iPod if you download them directly from the camera through the Belkin device. You need to run them through the apple software, or PS to create viewable thumbnails.

As long as the photos are fine when i get back home, it shouldnt be a concern to me. Thanks for the info tho : )

has anyone tried firewiring the shots from computer to ipod and does that make it quicker? Less battery power?

If you don't already OWN the ipod, consider others, too. I have this i/o magic which holds 20 gigs. Has been reliable, quite fast to download, accepts several different cards, but NO display to look at your photos.
Just another option.
