I just got the Hoya IR filter this weekend and was wondering if anyone has a good tutorial for adjusting in photoshop to get a nice image and color. I have a Canon A80 and the images come out with a very deep magenta color. I know its different with every camera, but hopefully someone here has had some experience with this filter on one of the Canon A series cameras. I uploaded a sample that I shot outside my door to test it out. I didnt do anything to it other than save it down for posting.

Thanks!

Here are a couple of websites that I found useful: //www.wrotniak.net/photo/infrared and //home.twcny.rr.com/scho/newpics/intro.html .

Try this website

If your infrared photos have red in them, your filter is letting in too much red light. You can get rid of it in a photo-editing program that let's you remove a color channel, desaturate the image, or convert it to gray scale. If your images are too dark, use the Levels command in your photo-editing program to expand the images dynamic range.

Perhaps this helps: Unless I am sadly mistaken, there really isn't much to it. Simply use PS to desaturate the photo; play with the contrast and brightness until you like the look of it, then use unsharp mask.

You have to use the channel mixer to adjust the photo. Here is an action for PS that helps.
Almost all IR will come out with a bit of the red cast (again depending on camera) and the strength of the filter. Try out that action and see what happens.
