| How often does it seem that you need to have the sensor cleaned on the canon 10D and is the manufacture the only place to send it? |

| If it's just dust on your sensor, you can clean that yourself. Your manual will tell you how to set the shutter up so that you can clean it. As for how often it needs cleaned: Just clean it when it's dirty. :) |

You may need to go over it several times.
I had made a detailed reply that got lost in cyberspace - here is my second try.
If you clean your sensor regularly - you won't have to go over it a lot.
With a fully charged battery - go to the menu item sensor clean. With a bulb blower, first gently blow as much dust as you can off the sensor (you probably won't be able to see it). Do not used a pressurized air blower - they can leave a residue (been there -done that). Then using your tool (I use a small spatula that I trimmed to fit - I have also found that the handle is smaller and fits into the corner better) Wrap your pec pad around your tool. Put one drop of Eclipse solution on the end and gently wipe the entire surface. We've been on an extended trip and I got off without Eclipse solution and didn't find it to buy for a month - I had enough spots that it has taken several attempts to get it all. The rule of thumb is one swipe per pad. The pec pads are cheap.
There is a website that has great instructions - when I find it again - I'll post it here. |

| Thanks, after reading the articles on the sensor cleaning I think I will buy all the equipment and have a go at it. I feel confident that it is not too difficult and endeavor to take on. |
